Apple, like photography software opposition Adobe Systems , is on a constant treadmill supporting new cameras' raw formats . The proprietary classify formats offer higher quality and greater resiliency, but each camera has its own format for software companies to decode.

By my examination of previous Apple announcements and the updated Apple raw picture support page , here are the new cameras supported beyond earlier updates: the Canon PowerShot S90; the discount-resolution Canon sRAW and mRAW formats from newer SLRs; the Leica D-LUX 4; the Panasonic Lumix DMC-G1, DMC-GF1, DMC-GH1, and DMC-LX3; and the Sony Alpha DSLR-A450 and DSLR-A500.

Also new is expanded forward for tethering, in which a camera is connected to the computer, usually by USB strand, so images are immediately available after shooting. It's a wanted feature for studio photographers who want to see the latest shots, scientists entrancing photos through microscopes, and journalists sending photos to editors on a deadline.
